    Let's talk bow strings

Who do y'all think makes the best string? I ordered a set of Korbin strings for my buddy last year because of recommendations on this site, but I myself don't have any experience with them, so i'm wanting to see what y'all have to say about them? I'm ordering a set of Vapor Traills for my buddy this week, but once again, I have no experience with them. I did have a custom string made here in Houston by a guy I can't recall his name, I thought he didn't do a very good job. He measured out my stretched out string, and therefore the string he made was too long and it never did settle. My peep always turned, I hated it to say the least. I'm looking at buying new strings for my Heli-m either this year yet, or just after season, so let me hear who y'all think has the best string. I'm all ears here guys/gals, and I appreciate all the info!

    Thanks,
    BURTONboy

Korbin is going to be the popular answer.....

      I've used his before.

I prefer a builder on AT and AA. Breathn, Johns customs. He does fantastic work.

I've been using a place for @6 years, Mike from PA, H&M Bowstrings. I haven't had any issues other than you need to order them 2-4 weeks in advance. I have been able to get a rush set as long as I made it clear.

I'm waiting on a set of cables and two strings as we speak, should be here later this week. I'll post a pics. Below is my recent order to Mike, for $118.00

            452X, 2 strings, 1 set of cables, 2010 Elite Judge. String- 58 7/16, cables 39 1/2.

Color, brown/ tan, tan halo, brown bowjax. Speed bumps.

3 feet of tan d-loop material, several yards of serving material (peep, etc).

Recurve, Samick Sage, 62", 58" string, DynaFlight 97 (or equivilant). Also brown/tan. Last time you used 14 strands, the serving area is .115 diameter, could be slightly larger.

              Korbin's
              H&M
              John (aka Breathn)

Close your eyes and pick one. They are all top notch string builders, great communication, and will stand behind their product. I've had John build me at least a dozen sets, 5-6 from H&M, and a few from Korbins. I tend to lean toward Korbins now to support a TBHer, but you can't go wrong with any of the ones mentioned so far in this thread.

I shoot Korbin's. String making isn't super complicated...I do my own traditional strings. Everyone is using the same materials, so what it really comes down to for me is price and customer service. Korbin charges a great price, and he's been nothing but great to deal with.

I build my own. I tried a set of Korbins on my DXT and had trouble with peep rotation and serving separation on the cam end. I ended up reserving them and have finally managed to get the peep stabilized.

It really is fun building your own strings and you WILL learn a lot about setting up a bow, cam timing, etc.

                    Sorry I can't help with a recommendation.
