    Looking for advice

Well I have finally saved up enough money to buy a new bow and I'm wanting a mathews although I'm not sure which one i plan on going to big o's archery shop this weekend in sherman to shot a few. I was just wondering if anyone had any insight on which models are better than others and the pros and cons
Thanks in advance for the advice!

I have the Helim, which I doubt is even an option for you, but I love it. My buddy has the Creed, he liked it until it started making an rver so subtle noise after a couple months of owning and shooting it. Not positive, but I think my Helim is light and shorter ata than the Creed, and im sure just as fast and both are rather quiet. Hope this helps. But basically, just go shoot some. You'll probably like them all, and have a hard time deciding. Get technical in your thinking, and you'll make the right decision.

I'm curious as to why you already want a Mathews without shooting several different bows.. Everyone makes a good bow these days and while one of their bows may fit best, I think you could be missing out on something you may like better if you never try actually shooting some others.

Why limit yourself to just one brand? Many, many good brands of bows out there including Mathews. Shoot some different brands and you may find out that you like another brand better than the Mathews, they ain't the only kid on the block by a long shot.

I would shoot every one I had on my "interested list" and then shoot anything that someone had recommended until I found the one that I liked the most.

I will parrot what everyone above has stated about shoot all the bows you can and let the bow pick you.....

But, if you are stuck on getting a mathews, There's nothing wrong with that. They make a quality bow that's just as capable as bowtech, hoyt, pse, prime, elite....etc.

If I was going to buy a new mathews right now, id take a long hard look at the chill. Not a solocam, its a true dual cam, but I've heard great things about it.

I'm not to fond of the creed, I've see a few at the range, and while it can be a tuning issue, they were all loud imo. Maybe I'm just spoiled with my current rigs.

I have a buddy who's in love with his zxt, give it a ride too!

Orvie is a Bowtech guy, first and foremost. He will be extremely upfront and honest about each and every bow on his shelf. I'm going up there sometime tomorrow myself and ordering a new string set for my Monster. If you want a Mathews, go for it, but don't forget there are other excellent bows that might have your name written all over them.

I agree with 12ring. I have been impressed with all the bow lines this year. I understand if you'd like to stay with Mathews, but as stated above you really should give as many bows a shot as you can before making your decision. When spending that kind of money you don't want to have any regrets. I will try to give you some technical info on the Mathews line that may help

Ill start with Mathews. This year they released the ZXT, Creed, and Chill.
The ZXT is what they call their "budget" bow this year. It is essentially a clone of the 2010 Z7X. practically Same ATA, BH, and very similar IBO. it uses a Z7X cam and shoots pretty much identically IMHO. It was a great bow a couple years and is still a great bow now with a new name.

The next bow is the Creed. Spec wise it has the exact ATA and BH as the 2012 Heli-M and is rated 4fps slower as well. The creed uses an over sized cam and wheel that is designed to give the shooter a smoother draw, I don't believe it to be that much smoother than the Heli-m (that's just my opinion). All around still a great bow and I would be happy to own it.

The Final bow in the new line up is the AVS Dual Cam Chill. Out of the new Mathews line this is hands down my favorite and the Mathews model I have sold the most of so far this year. In the past the Monster line has been said to be aggressive in the draw and was not always a fan favorite in the shop. We would get our occasional order but always sold/pushed the solo cam line. The new chill is a great mix of moderate speed, smooth draw for a dual cam, as well as an quiet bow. Those are the three things I look for in a bow. The bow itself is slightly slower than its past year counterparts but I was happy to see a compromise this year in exchange for a truly smoother dual cam Monster. All three bows are great, but it is up to as to which one will fit your needs. Let the bow chose you. Hope this helps and please let me know if you would like any more information.

Well today I did exactly just that went to big o's archery in sherman the staff were awesome in giving me advice and also being patient with me I have saved up for quite awhile and I didn't just want to buy any bow I shot a lot of bows the chill was just a little weird to me and didn't feel as smooth my last bow was dual cam and I was really wanting to go with a solo cam I also shot the creed which was very nice definatly a very smooth bow then I shot the zxt to me the zxt was a little more forgiving and the draw cycle was awesome if I hadn't been working on a budget though I probably would have gone with the creed but I wanted to get a top end rest and a nice sight also so the zxt was for me and its 10x better then my last bow so I am very pleased only thing that sucks is they had to order it so I will have to wait a few weeks but thanks everyone for the advice I appreciate it!
