    Gluing inserts with Gorilla glue

Great video on gluing inserts so I thought I would post. Glue would probably work on fletching as well.

Works great on fletching but have had some problems with it holding inserts but maybe I didn't clean the inside of the shaft well enough. I like using 2 part epoxy for the inserts.

A fellow TBHer suggested insert iron to me and I haven't looked back. 3 dozen arrows so far and no failures.

I used the glue on a dozen inserts/arrows and its held up great so far after a few hundred shots. I'm guessing the cleaning and scratching the inside of the arrow really helps with the adhesion, but I'm no expert.

          Gorilla super glue

I thought you were using the original Gorilla glue that makes a heck of a mess

I prefer epoxy, with super glue you have to work fast or it will set up before you get the insert seated

Have you tried that new Bohning Cool Melt? When i saw it i remember thinkin that crap wont hold. Rob Lee give me some for tuning my Fmj's on my recurve. Be **** if it dont hold great and you can actually reheat it on a carbon and take the insert out without hurting the carbon. It only takes a little heat. Weird how it holds and then only takes a little heat.

Use the original Gorilla glue for years and never had a problem. Last year it seemed I couldn't keep an insert in. Switched to epoxy and like it a lot more. Not sure what the difference was that messed up the Gorilla glue but epoxy seems more forgiving.

Ragin is right about the Blue Glue Stick, not only dues it work great on carbon shafts, but if you're tuning and cutting your arrows, or blow up an arrow and want to save the insert, just heat the tip and pull it out. The problem with epoxy is, once it's set, it's there to stay.

Even glue sticks for a glue gun works well. I have been using the wife's glue for years.
The soft glues give on impact but don't allow the bond to be broken as with hard bonds as with the old hot melt or epoxies.
And yes you can heat the point or insert and make changes without damage to a carbon shaft.

                      I use Easton's glue sticks.

I tried to get some Glue stick's from Magnus, Mike wouldn't sell me any.

That stuff is unreal, Toughest glue I've seen for a while and yes, it is a hot melt too.

Yep-the wood glue version does. But see post #5 above.
