    Gold Tip 55/75 Spine?

So here's another arrow spine question: What is the spine of a Goldtip 55/75?

My draw weight is 62# at 29" draw length and my arrows are approx 28" long.
I'd think that I'm not underspined because I'm closer to the 55, than the 75, but how would I know? Or could I possibly be overspined? I don't seem to have bad arrow flight. Just wondering........

Also, would shooting the same arrow, but cut to 27 1/2" long, make any noticeable difference in the spine?

I'm no expert but Salt Grass Archery set me up with the 5575 and my draw is 65# and 28.75". They fly well and are a durable and accurate arrow for the money. I know there are spine charts on the web. Try google.

It is a .400 spine. You are on the edge of a 400 and 340. If you are shooting a higher speed bow with and IBO over 320 you may be under spined and may need to go to a 340 which is the 75/95. Weight of broadhead would affect it as well.

Do you use wraps now? I know you use fobs....so if you added a wrap to the end of the arrow you could stiffen the spine a smidgen, or cutndown the arrow a tad or decrease your point weight.

Yes, I use FOBs, but my arrows aren't wrapped. I think my present arrows are okay; I just got to thinking about them, and wondered what the actual spine is. I could probably cut them down 1/2", and still have the (100 grain) broadhead comfortably in front of the rest. Thanks for the offer. If I feel like I'm having any issues, I might try your 75-95's out sometime.

Cool. You just have to remember that there's a difference in static and dynamic arrow spine. Play with your tip weight and it will change flight characteristics (dynamic spine).

Like you said...you're probably okay.....but from what I know...you probably are on the edge. When you shoot up your arrows I would consider a spine change or cutting them down a touch as you've mentioned.

Your static spine of the 5575 gts are .400. That a shaft cut to 28". Anything shorter stiffens spine of course. But to answer your question...I'm really not sure what the static spine number would be. I'm not sure if there's a formula you could use to figure it out.

I shoot 55/75 and have exact same specs as you including my arrow length of 28". They fly great for me.

                    Thanks for your input!
Mine seem to fly pretty good too, although 3 WT bucks, an Axis buck, and a hog might not agree I think what it all comes down to, is I just started over-thinking it, and can't seem to leave well enough alone

Ur fine Mikey. I shoot .400's at 62 pounds with a 125 at 27 inch arrow length and they are plenty stiff. When you start shortening those arrows the get stiff in a hurry. You could go to a .340 Spine but that would just be ur call. The 400's will work perfect on ur set up with 100 grain tips. And will be nowhere near being underspined.
