    Brace Height Question

I am looking at some different bows and plan to go shoot a few that are on my list. How much difference will I actually see between a 6 1/2 inch brace height and a comparable speed bow with a 7 inch brace height? Just wondering what to expect.
    Thanks for any comments.

If I'm not wrong, it should me no more than 5 fps out of that 1/2", but, I've been wrong before.

The shorter your draw length the less the short bh's will effect you. The longer your draw length the shorter bh's may effect you more. There is no real speed scale for bh. That depends on overall bow design.

That sounds great, but I will have to take a rain check...Friday and Saturday are booked for me and Sunday I will head west to spend a few days with my 85 yr old dad who is battling cancer. May try to head to Bow Zone later next week, as I have the entire week off from work.

Thanks. Am shooting 30" DL. Not concerned with speed, just wondering if I will notice much of a difference with a shorter brace height. Most longer brace heights claim to be more "forgiving". My question is how much more, or less, "forgiving", and what will that look like.

If i where you. At that dl, i'd lean toward the 7 inch bud. You are gonna have built in speed with your dl.

Ragin, so basically if I have a 28" draw and I'm shooting my Destroyer at 313 fps, and I change the bow to a 30" draw length, won't it shoot approximately 20 fps faster (333 fps)? I thought the general rule of thumb was 10 fps for every inch of draw length.

It's a general rule, yes. Just like a general rule is 3 grains on the string equals 1 fps.

Lmao, dude I had a total brain fart. Still, doesn't 1" of BH= 10 fps?

Brace height dosnt always equate the same, as ragin said. It has a lot to do with efficiency of cams and overall bow design.

However, you could roughly say 10 fps per inch of BH, but it wouldn't always be true

No. It doesnt standardize like 5 pounds, 1 inch of draw length or grains of arrow weight.
