    Shoot Thru Mesh

Who uses it and does it have an effect on arrow flight?

I'm thinking of adding it to my ground blind this year. My box blind has small 6x6 windows in which I could attach a small wooden frame with the material stapled to it. That's my thoughts anyway.

I drew back on my target buck on the final day of season and the arrow made a squeak during the first two or three inches of travel. He looked at the blind and I feel he could see my gloved hand and bow at full draw in the window. He could clearly see what I was thinking and didn't like it. With shoot through things may have been different.

So let's hear it....good or not good.

Here's the video of how it went down. Additionally this was the worst time of day in that blind, 08:00 with the sun shinning in on me.

I have never shot through the mesh on any of my popups... I've always been scared to try. I mainly use it to get as much cover around my shot window or windows only leaving small gaps between the mesh. Sorry I can't help but it does help get cover that's doesn't effect visibility. Also if you leave it on year round, in my opinion, the animals see it daily blowing in the wind and get used to the movement. So when your in the stand a little movement doesn't bother them. Just a thought.

Don't shoot through it... End of story...

Test the theory yourself. I have shot several deer, hogs and turkeys through mesh with mech heads with zero issues. Except Grimm Reapers. They didn't like the mesh. My 14 yr old shot his PSE Stinger 3G with COC head, Stinger Buzzcuts, through mesh with zero issues as well.

I have never seen mesh bother COC heads.

No issue with flight of the arrow on fixed blade broadheads. However, they will mess with most mechanicals (insert comment from Ragin on which mechanicals will work).

The only issues for me with mesh is visibility in low light situations, aka mistake thirty.

Having said all that, the pros outweigh the cons for me and I use it!

See the video in this thread for my kill this year. Shot and video were taken thru mesh.

I don't like anything touching my fletchings.....each to their own.

I shoot through mine all the time and don't have any problems. I use nylon window screen with frames attached to the inside of the blind. After you shoot fixed blades it is hard to find where they went through the hole is so clean.

Thanks for the info, I plan to build a small frame to practice with in the back yard and see how it works.

tmurray-I agree it seems to me that during the first and last minutes of shooting light you'd want to remove them for better visibility.

Substitute thumbtacks for your staples and this becomes possible. That's what I use, but I rarely take it down.

Ive killed almost 20, 17 deer if i remember right, with shoot thru nets on mine and Landrovers pop ups. He's killed that many or more. With "Fixed" heads not one single issue. We both shoot blazers.

The only mech ive tested that worked 100% of the time are the blood runners due to their design. Rage i had em open about half the time. Pretty much the same result with other mechs except the Shwacker. But i havent shot them alot. I put a piece of paper about 3 feet out in front of the mesh and the target about 3 feet behind the paper to see what popped open and what didnt.
