    Buying a used bow

Any good tips on buying a used bow? I had to sell my Hoyt Trycon last year and I am in the market for another bow but I wanna find another good used bowtech Hoyt or Mathews. Is there any little things to look for or keep in mind?

eBay and a/t typically have 1 or 2 year old bows, new with tags, that are just leftovers that you can buy worth the money. I've done that multiple times, and, knock on wood, have never had any issues.

        Surf the classifieds on here.
You'll find a great deal in no time.

For even faster results start a tread titled

        -WTB a Bow-
And see what people have for sell.

        Good luck on your search.

But I guess to answer your question.
          Look for frayed strings.
A bow that needs a new string can be $80-200 depending on quality and name.

Also, you can take a cotton ball and rub it down the limbs and if there are any splinters it'll grab the cotton. Splinters would most likely be caused by a dry fire or miss use.

Thanks for the info! I have looked on ebay, and found many bows that I prefer across the country. My next question was if anypne had any good or bad experiences buying bows on ebay

I've never bought any from eBay.
Bought a few off here an one off archery talk.
              All were great.
I'm not a big fan of eBay for big purchases.

if you stray from here i would trust AT waaay over Ebay. at least on AT they have ratings and forum members that will harass on true bad deals. bought several and a lot of other stuff there and not had a bad deal yet. some good ones on 3Dshoots.com also. good people there.(slow moving forum but good people)

i've bought 4 or 5 from ebay. check out the sellers and make sure they are established and have good history and feedback. you can also check out the listing to see if they accept returns in the case there is an issue. paypal can also protect you in the case of a problem.

Educate yourself on what you want as far as draw length and weight. Like someone said above, you can get practically brand new bows on archery talk.

I know my length and weight from my previous bow which makes me feel good about buying online. Thanks for the information again. I'm going to join archery talk as well. My texasbowhunter sticker should be here shortly.
