    Blind vs Stand

Whats better? When I was younger I always hunted out of stands but this year im hunting public land so I thought I would try a cheap homemade blind with some natural materials from the area. Any thoughts or advice would be helpful

For public I went and bought a $100 pop up and it's light weight easy to set up easy to take down and it has straps to wear like a backpack.

A blind would be more convenient. But you want to be off the ground hunting public land. Get up high where they can't smell or see you as easy. And throwing up a blind is a big red flag to a deer. They notice the slghtest change to their environment. If you could leave the blind up for weeks at a time you could get away with it. I hunt public land and use my climbing stand every time. Just my opinion...

Deer won't come near a blind for me. Don't matter if I just set it, leave it for weeks, brush, no brush...won't come near it.

But when I have used it during turkey season, I've had a few deer within 10 feet of it. They must have a hunting season calendar too...

The blind would be good, but like red said its hit or miss sometimes with the pop-up blinds I shot my first buck with a bow this year out of a pop-up 20 yds, but the next day the hogs winded me from 40 yds away and hauled arse.

One thing I do like about the blind is it makes it easy to scout my way out of the eoods in the morning. I treid the pop up blind first and I did not like I now use a blind I made out of camo burlap and pvc pipes I like to brush it in to its invisable to humans I hope its good for deer

I understand. Packing a climbing stand in and out is no fun at all. But I like hunting off the ground. I wish I could use a blind but I've had zero luck with them.

Lightweight hang on stand and lightweight climbing sticks. My setup is 21lbs total. Ground blind would be easier and lighter but I agree...get off the ground especially on public land.

What you using? I bought a blind but cant leave it. It will walk off like everyone elses. And the critters walk up see the blind and say" ah hell no, that was not there yesterday" and take off. Public land is a whole other ball game.
