    Arrow Length ?

Hey G.S, I recently took 1/2 " off my draw length from 29" to 28.5", shoot a Switchback@ 62-65 #, fall away rest, Gold Tip 5575s. Whats the considered "Correct arrow" length supposed to be? Thanks for the input. Dave

my draw length is 28" and I shoot 27" arrows cut from nock valley to insert. You can get to 27" no ptoblem.

      Dave,

I usually like to leave atleast a half inch of arrow in front of my rest, some prefer more. The important thing really is short enough arrows so they are not under spined for your set up. I believe a 5575 cut to about 27 inches at 65 lbs with 100 grain broadheads should be close. To be sure check Gold Tip's arrow selection chart for your draw weight and arrow length. good luck.

I shoot a Heli M at 28.5" and have my arrows cut to 27", measured from the throat of the nock to the end of the shaft where it is cut.

I'm at 27" DL with 25.5" arrows. I've got about 1/2" past my rest.

This will be the long, but accurate version, but not the only way to do it.
The TRUE DL is 1 3/4 inches shorter than the AMO DL.
If the AMO DL (assuming accuracy) is 28.5, with most of the rests being used having a 1 inch overdraw, an arrow cut to 26 3/4 inches will have 1 inch beyond the rest.
THe SWitchback @ 28.5 will actually measure 29 inches AMO, giving a TRUE DL of 27 1/4 inches.
So,.... if you have a rest that has a 1 inch overdraw as most of today's rests do, if you cut your arrow to 27 1/4 inches, you should end up with 1 inch beyond your rest.
Backing the bow down will SLIGHTLY lengthen DL, but you should still be good with a 27 1/4 inch arrow.
