    paper tuning problems

i am getting a tail high tear, i shoot beeman ics 340, around 65lbs, the arrows are 28 5/8" with 125g bhs my dl is 30". all my charts are telling me to go to a lighter bh. when i go to the 100g i get the same tear. i have tried droppin draw weight but doesnt seem to help. i have been studying some literature and from what i gather im still under spined. so i have about an inch of shaft i can trim off. will that fix the issue?...wanted a little input before i cut them....

this chart says that they are plent heavy enough and should be plenty...stiff.

If that chart is for a 125g tip, you should be shooting a 400 spine. But, it sounds like more of a tuning issue. Nock point is not right.

You should be about 3/8th" high on that bow. Give that a try and see what it tells you!

if lowering the nock point does not change tear it is too low, need to start moving it up

Up and down is not spine related. Move your nock point up because you are too low, causing the back of the arrow to whip upwards as it launches. Maybe a shop visit is in order soon.

What kind of rest? If it is a prong type, back off the spring tension.

drop away...no contact. will be changin to a whisker biscuit pro next week. im a tinkerer. as far as the way the arrow sits on the string in relation to the rest, the front of the arrow is pointed up...hope im not confusing anyone. ill mess with it later tonite when i get home and see if it improves....so yall think my arrow/bh is spined sufficiently?

Up and down has nothing to do with weak or stiff spine. You can "mask" poor nock travel and a high tear with an overly stiff spine in some cases.

Up and down is nock point and nock travel.

Make the tip of your arrow level, or point slightly downward. Your nock point is too low causing the high tear. It is not a spine issue, so don't start changing weights or cutting arrows. Do you own a bow square? That will help you a TON!

                            yeah i have one,

i started with the arrow 1/8" knock high, rest at center of berger holes...started paper tuning, had a real bad tail high tear and started lowering the knock point, when i got to a point i started raising the rest....sounds like i went the wrong way....even though the tear did get better.. i was following the easton charts on paper tuniing

Make sure that your rest is staying up long enough. This can affect your flight. You might need to take a little slack out of the string to your dropaway so that it stays up as long as possible without fletching contact. If you are certain the timing of your dropaway is correct, then adjust the rest up about a 1/16 at a time and see if that improves the tear. good luck
