When using spinning reels, braid is the only way to go in my opinion. No memory, casts a mile. My set up is Suffix 832 on my Sedona 2500 fd's. Use this set up to fish saltwater and reel in oversized reds from Calaveras in my kayak. Now braid on a baitcaster........well I have seen many a reels get thrown in a gear box to have the birdnest taken out later. Still not 100% on that set up.

I use the 50lb Powerpro braid on baitcasters. Some of the lighter weight stuff is too small in diameter. The small diameter stuff is very easy to backlash and can get caught between the spool and sideplate on some reels.

i suggest a happy medium, a copolymer. i have been using p-line cpx premium for the last ten years and still haven't switched. you get less stretch than mono and fabulous abrasion resistance. braid has come a long way and the fins and power pro are pretty pimp. my fishing partners use both and i have witnessed how well they work first hand.

but i'll take my p-line.......... i can tie ANY knot i want, don't need special cutters for it, have superior knot strength in a very low memory-near invisible line. check it out, it sells itself.

Thanks for all of the info. I know Personel preference plays a big part in choosing the right line, I have always used monofilament except once I tried Spiderwire. It's been a long time ago and I don't remember exactly why I didn't stay with it. Keep the info coming.
              Thanks

P-line is great stuff and you can buy the bulk roll (600yd) at Academy for the price of 300 yd more expensive lines. P-line is a good choice too.

I do know when I switched to power pro I had to change my fishing technique. When using mono with soft plastic there is a stretch with power pro there is none. My uncle was catching a lot of fish and I was catching a few. I could not figure out what was happening. So I grabbed another pole with mono and then it was on. So I just use the p line on topwater. Takes less effort to work it too. Just my 0.2.

I tried braid while throwing crank baits and didn't like the way it casts, too many
wind knots, minor backlashes. Went back to P-line for good.

Thanks everyone. I just ordered some P-Line and Suffix 832, will give a report after my first use of both.

I use mono, braid, and fluorocarbon. My flipping stick is 65lb braid. I use it in really heavy cover( trees, pads, weeds). I only use mono for open top water areas. Everything else is fluorocarbon.
