    fletching question

I notice some arrows have shorter and some have longer fletchings. What is the difference in the size and shape? Yes, it's a novice question but that's because I am a novice.

Blazers are short, but taller and stiffer, so they deform less in flight and stabilize fixed heads extremely well. Probably the most popular vane on the market.
That being said, we've killed lots of deer with fixed heads and 4" and 5 " vanes for many years.

The shorter are usually Blazer vanes. A little higher profile and a little stiffer. Made this way to give control and still be short and lighter weight. With the small diameter shafts , it was hard to get even 4" vanes or feathers on the shaft with very much helical. A 2" Blazer vanes has probably as much control as a 4" or 5" vane. Feathers are a different story. They have a lot of control. If you really want to see something wierd and ugly, look up and search FOB's, fletching only better and I shoot them.

Thanks for the knowledge. I have so much to learn. And I must say, this site has provided the most help out of the 2 sites I'm on.
