To answer your last question, bow shops are not like gun stores. Gun stores want to sell you what they think is the best brand. My experience with bow shops is that they want to get you set up with whatever fits your needs and budget the best. I haven't been to a bow shop where the staff didn't know what they were doing. I've learned a lot from them. By the way, I do have my own bow press and still go to the bow shop for most of my needs.

I would not buy a bow online, because I want to hold it and shoot it. For accessories I purchase 90% of my stuff from either Eders.com or Lancasterarchery.com.

I just use TBH classifieds. I can usually find whatever I need, and at a great price. Just cause something's been used doesn't mean it's always crap. Just my .02

bowzmart, and archery warehouse work well for me, I would say support the local pro shop, but after doing some pricing, it depends. 2 of the local shops want to charge me $40+ just tune my bow while bass pro does it for $15. Both places have knowledgable staff but the best advise is become your own bow mechanic. Once i started working on things myself i felt much more confident about my shooting

Found my local Pro shop yesterday. Its called billJacksons and it sucks. Their archery section is on 6'x3' shelf with a few sight rests and what-nots on it and 3 carboard boxes with arrows in them next to it. Is $16 a little too much for aluminum arrows? I would like to think it is so needless to say ima try my luck at a place an hour down the road called arrow heads. Even the name sounds promising

Most pro shops won't have a huge inventory right now cause of it being offseason. The best bow shop I've used is double G in Georgetown tx and Mr Paul always has a pile of different stuff in there but he's about the only one I know of that keeps his shelves full year round. Basspro and Cabelas wouldnt be my first choice as a proshop because they just get warm bodies to fill in unlike a proshop they specialize In just archery. Get to know some other people who shoot in your area and find out who they use and try them out.
