Scope power determination?
03-31-2025, 06:11 AM
I have a MBG Ascent sight that had a scope on it when I bought it.
Pretty sure it is a 2x but is there any easy way to confirm or identify the power?

have you pulled the lens and looked? most of them have the power etched really small near the edge of the glass. also i bet an eye doctor or even wal mart vision center could check it and tell you.

I will look at it real close and see if it is marked, I don't think it would be easy to separate from the housing
I think they were 2 and 4x versions, pretty sure this one is 2 but trying to verify before I try and sell it

If it’s pretty clear it’s probably a 2x. A 4x without clarifier will start to get grainy and be pretty “zoomed” at 20 yards

I am 98% sure it is 2X, I can't tell much difference looking at something 10' away in the house though
Just want to list it correctly when I get ready to sell it, I don't use it and never have

I just put a 2x on my Montana Black Gold sight.
It does not truly double the size of the target at 20 yards if that helps.

Even the MBG staff does not have a way of determining which power it is
I am going with 2X, definitely does not double the size of anything I looked at through it. Both up close and far away
