Having a fast bow is a great excuse to shoot heavier arrows fast. I shoot a mathews reezen that has hit 330 fps (340 ibo) with stupid light arrow, but the best performance has come from heavy arrows (430 grains) still at 285. Still fast enough for forgiveness on yardages inside hunting range (+/- 5 yds inside 35) but also gets me great penetration on heavy hogs etc. I prefer heavy arrows over a speed setup generally but the ability to get both is awesome. Don't sacrifice a k.e. boost for a couple of fps.

UPDATE:
Got some new GT XT Hunters Camo 5575 when cut to my size of 26" weigh 366 grains with points. Double checked my bow on a scale and I know some scales differ by a pound here or there, but this one said 68#. I'm now over the 5 grains per pound rule and I can actually go up to 70# on this bow with no change in arrows.
Shooting them was great. They hit exactly the same at 20 and 30 as the old arrows. Didn't have an option to shoot farther yet, and burried deep in a brand new target, so I know they'll do the job.
Still shooting 324 fps and according to the Gold Tip site that's 85#KE. The more I shoot this bow, the more I love it!
I'm very happy, and now have no concerns. Thanks to all of you for your input and advice! Now I just need to see if my local shop will do an exchange on the old ones. If not, you'll see them for sale soon...

Dont get caught up too much in that ke calculator. Ive never killed anything with a casio.Really, I never did, I was still at 60# when I was shooting them so I was safe. It was going up in weight that created all the concern. Now I'm up in weight and arrow weight so I'm good.
And a couple I chroned were 323 and some were 324. So I'm amazed with this bow and very happy. And now we're all safe, legal and good to go. Now if the rain would stop long enough for the range to dry up and not be a mud pit I can go try them at longer ranges!Last edited by Guest; 02-13-2012, 02:07 PM.

Don't try to shoot more draw wight because of an ego thing. As the traditional shooters who kill more north american game with 45 lb. draw weights. What is important is what weight will you be most accurate to make a good clean shot on the animal you are hunting. For my compound I am comfortable in any position shooting my Z7 at 63 lbs. and I'm getting about 280 fps with a 425 gr. easton axis st arrows which is plenty fast enough with good penetration.
