    Arrow Setup Opinions

Last year I had issues getting pass throughs on two large pigs, but I got a new bow and in the process of getting new arrows and curious on ya'lls thoughts.

    Last Year:
330 gr arrow @ 325 fps + or - a bit but it made 80 ft/lbs of energy. Shooting a 100 gr Grim Reaper 1 3/8" broadhead shot two similar 150 or so pound boards and both arrows went in behind the rib cage and neither exited.

    This Year:
With the same arrows spined right cut a bit longer with the new bow I am shooting a 383grain arrows at 343fps 100ft/lbs + or - depending on which calculator you use. Would this 20 ft/lbs increase be enough to pass through the pig or will momentum still be an issue?

Energy maxes out 104 at around 104 ft/lbs but lose about 20fps.

I like the one pin to 35+ yards without hold over so I hate to give up too much but if it won't get through the animal I am willing to go heavier....

(Omen Pro 70lb @30" ran through a chrono Thursday, nothing on string, on the deep valley stops)

Is that 330 grain arrow including the bh or is the actual weight 430 grains with bh? You need to be shooting at least a 350 grain arrow including bh, as you probably already know. If your arrow is 430 with bh, than that is a great combo of speed and KE. I would stick with that setup, because pigs are tough and you want always get a pass through on every animal. I hope this make since lol

that 330 was with 100gr tip. That was a 60lb bow.

      Now shooting the 70lb omen.

Ive shoot thru hogs sometimes and sometimes not. They are just plain tough. Best to go with heavy arrow and fixed coc if you somewhat want consistant pass thrus on em. Hang that calculator up. Hawgs are just hard to pass thru on regular basis. Im talkin hawgs not pigs.

I'd go a heavier spined arrow

I would get a beefier arrow if a pass through is what you are seeking. Would you rather get hit by a hig speed mosquito, or a slow moving tree branch?

Slow and heavy will trump light and fast nearly every time. It is kinda like comparing a 22-250 to a 7 mag.
