    22-250 deal?

I found a Stevens 200 in 22-250 for $329.99, its slightly used but in great condition. I posted not to long ago about a .308 and 25-06 but I have determined that a 22-250 will be the better choice as I'm going to primarily be predator hunting.

Do y'all think it's a good deal for the Stevens? Also. What are some affective ranges of the 22-250?

Only if that rifle comes with a decent scope. I've seen the stevens rifles on sale at academy for under 200 bucks.

I would say you should limit shots to 250-300 yds max. Those light bullets shed velocity rather quickly. Having said that, the longest shot I've made with one of my rifles in that caliber was 275 on a crow, and 3 pieces hit the ground--2 wings and the rest.

Thanks for the advice guys, this rifle really caught my eye. I doubt I would be shooting past 300 anyway! And maybe since its used I can bargain down the price some.

I bought a new one two or three years ago for around $300.

Range depends on what you are planning on shooting. 300 yards is a long way to kill anything up from a yote. If your wanting to kill a deer, much less than 300 yards I would suspect.

Even though some guy on here will tell about his brother's next door neighbor's ex-wife (whom they went to a different school together) shot one on a dead run at 843.5 yards (up hill) and it did a back flip, gutted and skinned itself on a cold windy day last year with her trusty 22-250 and factory ammo. Not saying you can't kill em way out there, just saying it may not be the best tool to do the job.

It's a great deer caliber. I've shot a LOT of deer with mine and quite a few were over 300 yards. My longest I can think of was 353.
