I'm on a budget and wanted some advice on an IR Game camera. Tell me what you have/had and the experience you have had with it.

Right now I have a Primos 60 from Febuary and a Primos 46 in May. I got a little corrosion on the battry spring connector on the 60 and was able to figure it out and fixed it. That happened to me on a Moultrie about 4 yrs ago.
Other than that the Primos have kicked but and I hope to get one of there Black out units next year, after I hear a little more feed back on it.

If money is an issue, go with the regular white flash Chris; don’t waste your money on the IR; that no flash, no haul **s is a bunch of Bull hockey, and an unnecessary feature in my opinion.
Plus the night time IR pics are terrible. The white flash doesn’t scare them, and I have Thousands of back to back pics to prove it…..
Pull up the” Chasin Game” site on the web; it has some great info on all the cams….
Hope this helps,
Tuco

I have used Stealth-cam and Moultrie. The Stealth-cams are IR and they work great, but if you use them in the summer, they will snap pictures every minute until the battery runs out, or the card fills up. I had one that got ruined over the summer. While the others quite acting funny when the weather cooled off, its still snapping a picture every minute. The SC cammeras are also good because you can add a 12v rechargable battery pack later when you get some more cash.
The moultrie camera works like a dream, but the time stanp is all screwed up. it looses time quite frequently. But its not too bad if I check it every week or so and reset the time. I usually set it 15 minutes early, and in 2 weeks, its about 15 - 30 minutes behind. close enough to be in the stand when the animals are coming out. Best parts is that Moultrie has a solar pannel with an internal battery that will last a LOOOOOOOOOONG time.
Bothe cameras cost less than $100, but the batterys and stuff cost about $80 themselves.

I agree on the white flash--I have 6+ years of pics with cuddeback capture cams, but currently have only one in operation. I have 3 Primos 60s and they are doing OK but I don't like the IR flash. Also, they make a noise when they take a pic (and even my 65 y.o. ears can hear it). Deer flinch when it goes off and it makes for some blurry pics--not good if you are trying to evaluate the buck's rack. However, in their favor, the Primos battery life is better than the Cudde. But, if Cudde would overhaul the Capture model to make it more reliable and keep on producing it, I'd stay with it. Only thing I don't like is their picture software--haven't found a digital camera yet that will view its pictures. Primos, Moultrie--no problem, Nikon, Olympic, Fuji--all view the Primos and Moultrie pics just fine.

IMO, avoid the white flash.. some of the IR's out there work just a well and you don't have to worry about the white flash spooking wary deer. I'm hoping we have many more "no glow" blackout options next year. Given the choice, I chose for deer not to know I'm taking their picture every thirty seconds
