    Minimum draw weight for mechanicals

This is my sons second year bow hunting. He is 11 and is driving me crazy with wanting to use a mechanical broadhead. He is currently pulling 50lbs,
23" draw length. I shoot a one piece broadhead and have no experience in using them, never felt the need to change what works. Is there a general minimum draw weight when using them?

The draw length is gonna hender him the most.

A 40ke rage maybe. But I wouldnt let em.

I personally wouldnt not use them under 60# but thats a personal thing.. 40ke have a chart on the back for poundage. I have had customers get pass thrus with 40# and 40ke. still dont let me fiance use them with her 50# and 24dl.

I think you will be much better off with a Stinger or a Razor Trick..

We are both using G5 Montec and Carbon Steel, been real pleased with them so far.

just stay with a cut on contact, And get them hair popping sharp for him!

G5 for sure. My son killed his first deer 2 weeks ago at age 11. 35 lb draw at 21 yards. She jumped string and he spined her. She dropped in her tracks. When we pulled on the arrow it was stuck hard in the spine.o doubt it would have made thru the other side in vital areas.

i have my fiance shooting the g5 strikers, because of how much sharper the blades are. for really light weight I would shoot something like a razorcap, woodsman elite, or steelforce. Sharp is the name of the game when penetration is an issue and a 3:1 ratio of length to width will penetrate the best. two blade single bevel with the best penetration, and the 3/4 blades with better wound channel
