I don't believe they are illegal in Texas anymore. I'm pretty sure we received the letter stating they were legal to use. I watched the guys from pigman the series use them at our ranch last week and they were very cool. He shot a coyote at 53 yards that started out at around 40. The vendetta just kept track of the yote and PigMan knew right where to put the pin. Poor ol yote was pinwheeled and did nothing but the crappie flop

You should ask the Pigman if ti is legal for use on deer and other game animals. Coyotes are not considered game animals, so it si fine to use them on that. They project a laser light for alignment purposes that cannot be disabled, so TPWD ruled them illegal for GAME animals. Varmints, predators and exotics are fine.

And if you do have that letter I would love to see it!! As would most everyone else who has wanted to use one on deer!!

It is illegal to use one on a game animal in texas. its considered using a weapon mounted laser. but you can use it on pigs and varmints. its a must have especially when you spot and stalk pigs. it is a long process to mount and get dialed in but once its done you wont wanna get rid of it.

Thanks fellas. I'd like to have one but only if they become
Legal for game animals. Cant see spending that kind of money for pig hunting.

he didnt ask if they were legal or illegal....he asked if they were any good....have a buddy that has one (game warden said it was legal to use, where we hunt) and he loves it....if i didnt shot a single pin sight i would diffently have one....just check with local game warden to see what he says....all game wardens are different...but to answer your question they are good, just a little pricy for only being able to use it for bowhunting....will look and see if i can find the website he ordered his from, was a great deal and alot cheaper than buying from store

I spoke to the game warden in Grapevine Texas on Saturday. She said they are illegal to use in Texas. It can project a laser therefore they are illegal. She did say it is up to each individual game warden to make the call, but she assumed most would share the same view as her.

It projects an ir laser correct? No visible laser. How is this any different than any other Rangefinder?

it is a visible laser for initial alignment. it also cannot be permanently disabled, so technically a person COULD turn it on and aim with it. that is why it is not legal for game animals in TX.

The rangefinder portion is just like any other range finder. it is the red alignment one that makes it a no go.

So does this make laser rangfinding scopes illegal in TX, or is the law different with guns?
