Went and bought some Easton Axis arrows. Took them to the bow shop up here, and I brought one of my Excels in to get the right length. My Excels have inserts in them that have a lip that sticks out the front of the shaft. When I get my Axis shafts back, I noticed that the inserts were completely inside the shaft. I don't know much as this is only my third bow season, but should the lip be sticking out of the shaft or was that just due to the diameter of the Excels? I've never seen it like that. I have also never seen an insert that sits completely within the shaft.

Excels and Epics have a different insert from the axis. Yes there is a portion that "sits" over the end of the shaft. The axis have the HIT insert "Hidden insert Technology" that allows the point to sit on the end of the carbon shaft. Both of them are designed to "allow for in line orientation of the tip with the carbon shaft".

I wasn't sure what the HIT thing meant as I had to have them cut to my proper length. I bought them at 29", but had to have them cut to 27". Then the shop had to put new inserts in. Thanks for the help. Still new to this. I just got the new shafts because of the smaller diameter, but I didn't really pay attention to the inserts.
