Im going with cat whiskers from now on. ???'s

I have had the diamond string silencers, string leeches, and monkey tails. All three haven't lasted long at all. It also hurts pretty bad when they keep hitting me in the face. Tomorrow I am going to tie some cat whiskers on and call it good. How far from the cam and wheel do I tie them on? How long can I expect them to last? What kind of serving do I need?

3-4 inches, pretty much for as long as string lasts,dacron.
