Accidental dry fire.
Took my Martin Cheetah out in the back yard late this afternoon with my son for a quick practice session. Knocked an arrow (or so I thought), brought the bow up and took aim, when I fired it didnt sound or feel right. I couldnt see my arrow on the target and I said "what happened?". My son pointed at my feet and there was my arrow. Talk about a sinking feeling. Thoroughly inspected the bow and cant find any cracks or damage at all except that my peep sight was gone and the stabilizer wasnt tight anymore. I'm guessing the string stop saved it. Either way, the bow is headed to the shop in the morning to get checked out.

had a cousin that dry fired one at the club last year. they grabbed the limbs and squeezed it together and put the string back on the idler, and started shooting it with no problems. But I won't stand anywhere near it when they're shooting it. A Diamond, I believe. Seems to be ok, but the thought of getting whipped by a string makes my skin crawl.

The thought of a bow blowing up or an arrow blowing up is scary, I really have to make sure my bow is good this yea I finally talked my wife into letting me take my 5year old boy a couple times with me this year. Bad thing is she caught me watching a hog hunting video on youtube and started watching it and now she is thinking it might be dangerous with them I am trying to figure out how to tell her that will be fine and reassure her.

If you are not near the x and someone shoots at your nock just to try and bust it then that is different
