    Broadhead penetration test??

I saw a write-up that someone did within the past year, where the guy had a scientific set-up to compare the cutting abilities of broadheads using a press to push the heads through a piece of leather and measure the poundage. Anyone ever seen this that can offer a link to it? I can't find it. It compared lots of COC and Chisel Tip bh's. Don't even remember which forum it was on.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I'll do some searching.

Check out the penetration tests using 50 gallon barrels. They are even in more impressive if you put alot of faith in these tests.

Wow that's really an eye opener! I shoot the cut on contact on my recurve but now I might use them on the compound.

That test is flawed because a broadhead does not go up to the target, stop and then try to bore or punch it's way thru the intended target. A broadhead penetrates with a combination of KE and momentum and that broadhead has absolutely ZERO momentum and the KE only increases as pressure is added. Sure a COC will cut easier than any other style head, but it is still flawed. Remember, proper shot placement and a sharp broadhead are all you need.
