    Let's talk releases

I am in the market for a new release.. I am open for suggestions, I would like to try a strapless release so I don't have to worry about banging it around in the blind. But I don't want a thumb release, so I know that limits me. I am not opposed to a buckle style release with a fold back option. What does the GS recommend or what is your favorite. looking to keep it under a $100

    Thanks

Truball Assassin SST is a buckle strap and folds back, the stainless steel jaws and trigger are smooth and it's length adjustable, it has a small/compact head/trigger assembly and the big plus for me is you pull the trigger to open the jaws and release to close them when you're gettin ready to shoot. $80

I just put this one in my shopping cart through sportsman guide... it is on my list ... I like all the attributes that this release offers, I didn't know about the opening and closing of the jaws. Is the release easy to adjust length wise/pressure???

Yes, very easy to adjust, one set screw...just follow the directions and you can dial that release in just right for yourself...I love mine...I've tried thumb releases like the Pro Diamond Extreme by the same make and went back to my Assassin SST cause it kicks butt.Look around at www.bowhunterssupplyStore.com they have .99 shipping...

You have loyal fans to certain Bow Manufacturers but when it comes to a release I am loyal to TruBall and I am VERY picky when it comes to my release.

I shot a Cobra for years, and a few months back I upgraded to a Scott Sabertooth.

I should have done it a long time ago. It has the nylon strap for the head, and a comfy buckle strap. I wasn't sure how well I'd like the floppy head, but so far it's been really easy to get used to, and it's nice not having it in the way like my old Cobra that had a rigid head mount.

Mine looks like this, but in all black:

I got it at CCR, seems it was $70 something. They were nice enough to let me test out a few different ones before making my choice with this one.

This is what I have and I'm very happy with it. My old one was a true ball but it had a velcro strap. The main selling point for me was the fact that the jaws are always closed. Only open when you pull the trigger True fire makes a couple of models that are worthy of looking at in the $50 price range.

You can also adjust the trigger pull. I've got mine set pretty low, like a hair trigger on a gun.

Shoot a bunch of releases before you buy, there are a lot of good ones out there. if you the chance shoot one of the spot hogg releases, very light trigger and folds back against your wrist out of the way
