    Bow Noise

I have a Mathews Outback. LH, 50-60 lb that is driving me nuts with a noise on release. I've put a driver on every fastener in the bow and none were loose, took off every accessory except the rest and shot it--still there. First thing I though of were the wraps for the sight pins being loose, but not that as the noise is there w/o the sight mounted.

Only 2 things I have left to rule out are the idler wheels (?) where the buss cables go -- anyone ever had any experience with them "rattleing?" I even wedged toothpicks between the wheels and between the wheels and the frame, and still there. Other thing is the QAD rest--is it possible that the spring is making the noise?

    Help!!!!

my bet is the rest.. could be hitting the shelf when it falls.. try putting some felt under it

      Check brace and A2A,.
If bow is stretched out from string stretch, the string hitting the suppressors harder will make quite a bit of noise, plus, a bow that is crunched a little generally will be quieter.

Bump the riser with the palm of your hand and listen. If there are any rattles, you'll be able to tell where they are coming from.

I've bumped it at least 50 times and can't reproduce the sound. Don't think the launcher arm will go down far enough to contact the rest, but heading to the backyard range to see.

Had new string put on it last year and when the rest was installed 3 months ago, the ATA was OK, but have been shooting it quite a bit--

thx for the responses--got something to work on now.

Well, when I "cock" the QAD, and then let it drop as if shooting, I get the same noise I think I'm hearing when shooting. If that's the case, then I'm gonna get a different rest. And, no, the launcher arms aren't contacting the shelf.

Get a Ripcord Code Red. Super Smooth and Quiet.

That's what Fred told me when we mounted and set up the QAD.

I made the switch from QAD to Ripcord and it solved my noise problem as well.

Took it in to Fred's shop yesterday and tried to explain what I thought I was hearing. Well, he shot it and turned and looked at me and said I was hearing things. Shot it 2 more times and said it was really quiet other than a bit of string thrum. Put some monkey tails on it and told me it wasn't gonna get any better. I shot it a bit and agreed, it is quieter. I have concluded that the noise I'm hearing is the click of my release (Carter Quickie 1+).

So, it's out to the paper for more tuning tonight after supper--

I had a noise driving me crazy once. And yes, it was my release. After I found out what it was I just forgot about it.
