New release and another dumb question

I changed from a redhead wrist strap release to a Scott Shark nylon release. Well the Scott allows me to shorten the release to where I really want it, but now my shots are grouping 4"-6" to the right (I'm a lefty). What's up with that?

I shoot a Bowtech Assassin, 60lb, 28.5" draw, and shoot from a loop. Should I try adjusting my draw length to compensate for the shorter, and more comfortable, release?

Normally, I'd just experiment and learn that way, but I'm sitting at the airport and they wouldn't let me bring it through security

    Draw length is draw length.

what type of head was the old one? single jaw? double jaw? how bout the new one? that could affect the way the string comes off the release causing left or right hits.

years ago when i shot a double jaw wrist strap release, i tried out a friends short-n-sweet single hook release and i was having the same problem. went back to my release and was dead on again

I was shooting a Tru-Fire Bulldog that had a very "heavy" trigger and once I shot a Scott with a hair trigger my shots were way off too becuase I was compensating for the extra pressure it took to shoot the release that was too stiff and once that added pressure was gone, my shot placement changed completely.

or your anchor point moved from a different release. that is usually what happens to cause this.

Both releases are double caliper, and yes the Scott release has a much lighter trigger.

It is also entirely possible that my anchor point changed, but it felt petty natural. I'll check when I get back from my trip.

When I paper tuned before I got this release I was getting a really good bullet hole. I wonder if I should do it again with the new release.

just shortening a release is enough to throw it off from where it was, if it were me i woud just move my sight and not worry about it if you know your anchor hasn't changed

When in doubt I always put it on paper. cant argue with results.

Im with rocky, your draw length hasnt changed on the bow. Just your release so anchor point may be off.

My only reluctance in adjusting my sight is that I've only got 1/4" to 1/2" of windage left in that direction. Maybe I can move my rest over a hair and check how that affects the paper tune. Guess I'll just have to play with it when I get home... oh darn, I really hate playing with my bow

Even a small difference on the face(anchor) will be reflected exponentially down range.

1/4 to 1/2 inch should be plenty i would think, i wouldn't mess with the rest if the bow is shooting good that will create other problems if you have already broadhead tuned and got everything shooting right
