How can you tell if your solar panel is charging the battery on your feeder?

Rechargable battery has enough power for the display to light up, but not enough to power the motor on. (motor works with a good battery)

Don't know if the battery has gone bad or the solar panel is out.

Any ideas out there?

Hook up a digital multi meter to the leads on the solar panel when it is getting good light and check the output. I would imagine it should read either 6 or 12 volts.

It should be reading at least 7.5v in good light with a 6v panel, and 14+ on a 12v panel--or even more perhaps.
