    New Bow vent!

Frustrated, I've got the itch to look at a new bow, but I've sprained my left arm. I tried shooting mine yesterday, and it is painful to hold the bow and difficult to draw.

I guess I'll just keep looking at them on the web.

One thing I will ask, is when did the overall design of the bow riser change?

See how my Darton has a curved out-ward (away from draw string) vs Mathews and PSE, which curves inwards (towards draw string).

    DARTON Excel

    Mathews and PSE

I'm asking because I did try to hold a PSE at Academy and felt it was top heavy. Of course to be fair, my arm was hurting and I really could extend like I would to hold and draw the bow, without pain.

Long story short, I fell and stuck both arms out to break my fall. No breaks, but bad sprain in left arm and right wrist. Left arm has a bruise around the elbow about 3" in length now, but it was about 8" a week ago.

Your old Darton basically has a straight/deflex riser and the newer bows have the reflex risers which equals in shorter brace heights and faster speeds. I would wait until your are Ok to shoot and go shoot as many different bows and pick the one you like the best.

Thanks for the info. I guess the design makes sense, as everyone was going crazy putting on an overdraw for more speed. The design clearly aids in speed. Wounder, what an over draw would do on a reflex design. Could more speed be gained?

Yea, I'm going to need to wait a few more weeks before I can try out any new bows.

You would probably not have enough room for an overdraw on a reflex riser, besides with the choices of carbon shafts, no need, you can as lite as you want on arrows in todays market.

I always thought it just had to do with parallel limbs or not. Learn something new every day

When you do heal up and shoot the reflex riser bows of today and parallel limbs you will find much, and I meen much less vibration and hand shock, shoot em all!

What appeals to me the most is how quite the bows of today are, which is probably a result of the less vibration.

My neighbor got a PSE Stinger and its like night and day difference between my bow and his. When he flings an arrow down range all you here is the hit, and compared to mine, I feel like its a Turkey flying off roost.

I just put up my 17 yr old Darton trailblazer for a lighter and fast Darton AS300 and the noise and vibration are are not there like on my old bow.
