    Blurry Sight Pin

Anybody have trouble with sight pin or pins turning blurry? I can see target fine, but my pin is very blurry. Thinking about adding lense to sight, but would I have to put in lense in the peep? I tried one in the peep and not the sight already, and it worked, cleared the pin, but blurred the target. Thanks for any help.

Remove the lens and focus on the tip of your sight pin and allow the spot on the target to be out of focus. Pretty difficult to get the pin at 3' from your eye AND the target at 20 yards focused at the same time...

btw, it'll help TREMENDOUSLY to shoot with both eyes open!

Thanks guy's! I do shoot with both eyes open, I went to single pin to try to eliminate all the halos, and the single is just getting too big!! I just searched "blurry pins" and found all kinds of info, I guess I should've done that first!! My fault!

Did you try the Verifier peep? There are different strength lenses to allow you to make the pins crystal clear and only change the focus on the target a small amount. I have one on my Elite Judge and Copper John Mk 4 single pin and it works great. The Clarifier is used in combination with magnification lenses on the sight- which I don't have.

The archery shop has a display unit you can use to get the Verifier lens that fits your eyes.

Yes, I did try the verifier and did not work. It cleared sight pin but made target blurry. However that was before they made a 4 power. Use to be 6 was low as you could go. I went to specialty archerys web sight and found out that one reason target is blurry and pin is not is because verifier was to strong. Long story short, I've got a 4 power coming and hopefully will "clear" things up. Thanks 4 your help.

You're welcome. Hope it works. Remember to assemble it and tighten down with a drop of Locktite on the threads. Its amazing how loud one is if it gets loose. I bought an extra tool to tighten it, one in fanny pack and one on the console of my truck.

I've done many things to eliminate this problem and none have been successful. My worst move was to go to a 4x lens. It did not work for me. It worked great on paper, but when I tried to shoot at a deer I really struggled to find it, to find the spot, and to get the shot off. Frankly the whole thing coming together so quickly, and the deer being a really nice one, combined with the adrenaline, then mixed with a 4x lens in one eye and nothing in the other and I did not like the experience.

Oddly, what solved my problem was running out of contacts. I went to get some more contacts and danged if the doc didn't get me contacts that I can see both the deer (target) and the sight pins. My shooting improved dramatically immediately.

I also went with a cheap, crappy, Trueglo Greendot sight, and I really like it so far.

With the verifier you will need to compromise with the clarity of the pin and the clarity of the target. The lower power will help but it shortens your focal point. From experience.

Your eyes are focusing on the target and not the sight pin. I've trained my eyes to see both at the same focus. Took some time.

Contacts, tried that too, even had doc give me old prescription because I put my glasses (old prescription) on and seemed everything cleared up? Contacts-new or old - no workie!! Thanks for all you guys input. I'll figure it out one way or other. Or I just might start shooting a recurve and not have to worry about seeing sights!!

If you can see the deer and not the pin clearly, my trad archery friends will probably say it's time to consider a "string" bow.

Most of my archery club are traditional archers, including all wood self bows.

My pin is always blurry. I concintrate on the target. Am I wrong?
