    forum security alert! Attn: Mods

Martin Tech Forum was hacked last night. Left a message for Mods to tighten security. Name: k0dy group: teampoison.

I'm not a computer geek and idk what kind of OUR info is accessible,or if it's possible to get our computers hacked through the sight. Just wanted to through a red flag out there. Spread the word to your other frequented forums,as well. Lets protect our interests, guys.

if they want in, they will get in...it's not that difficult...keep your antivirus and antispam software updated on your personal computer and run a free online scan at housecall.antivirus.com and you should be good....just keep everything updated....

It happens, if they want in they will get in. Our company was getting hacked for awhile and they were changing our website home page to a picture of Britney Spears. We did research on the hacker and he known for doing that, he would leave his signature. He would basically hack as many sites as possible at one time just to say he did it.

Their vbulletin version is newer, so whatever vulnerability is in their forum software is also most likely present here too. Vbulletin is pretty secure though, and most vbulletin exploits use holes in poorly written forum addons. I don't think there are many addons here.

not surprising or hard to do. and these sites hold the IP address's of all the users which basically means they can see your computer and where it is...

a firewall helps, but again if they want it bad enough they will get it.

BUT, I have a good firewall in front of my machine at home, and here at work.

Not that its un passable, but why make it easy. Maybe it will make them give up trying as there aint crap on my PC worth accessing other than fully clothed pics of my son, and my truck and some music. which are posted online anyway...

I am one of few who dont keep all their financial info on the computer.

If you've ever bought anything online from that computer it is accessible also.

                    I dont do that either.

my wife saw a pool toy someone had. The people said you could ONLY get it online. we looked and found one at leslie pool supply's by my work.

picked two of them up today at lunch...

I dont like buying things online... I am a touchy feely person! I like to touchy and feely before I buy.

I am an IT guy. which makes me that much more paranoid because I know what people can do and find out (hell I do it all the time) Boss wants to see what people have been doing at work etc. A little different than hacking a firewall or forum, but same idea.
