    Tuning help

Picked up an Alphamax 32 for a backup bow. Took it to the bowshop to get checked out. They checked everything moved my peep to the right heighth, and adjusted my rest (QAD Ultrarest hunter). I came homeand put a sight on it. When I shoot it always shoots high. I have raised my sight and pins and it is still shooting high. What happened ? Any suggestions?

Just guessing without seeing the bow, you either have a timing problem, or most likely the rest is slow in falling for some reason or other causing the arrow to ramp up.

not a lot to go on so don't be offended but can you flip the sight house to give you more adjustment room?

It's high but is it grouping well? If it is I don't think it's a timing issue as much as the geometry of the rest, peep and sight

I'm not going to be offended. I'll take all the help I can get. It is grouping well, just really high and to the right. I can't flip the sight house. I live about 50 miles from the closest bow shop so I'm just looking for ideas to try and fix it myself before I get back to the bow shop.

My sight has 2 sets of mounting holes. It is mounted with the front holes. If I use the back holes it will move the sight about an inch forward. Would this make a difference?

More in pin gap than pin placement. Might have moved the peep to much......just a guess

Did they adjust your peep before they adjusted your rest? And when you say adjusted your rest, did they set the nock height in relation to the rest, as well as estimated center-shot? I can't speak for others, and I am, by no means an expert, but I set up the rest (arrow centered over Berger hole at 90 degrees to string, then nock height (usually 1/8" over level,) and then I find my peep height, based on my anchor point at draw. I can usually get my 20 yard pin in less than four groups of four arrows, unless I overlook something. In fact, I usually do this after building and installing a new string, so I will install the rest, fix nock height, and install the sight, so I can shoot the new string a dozen times before I install my peep. It's hard to be certain, but I also suspect a peep sight that is set a bit too high. You'd be surprised how just an 1/8" high peep will move your groups higher.

Is the arrows grouping in the same place or close to where they were before you moved the site up? Take a pic of you at full draw and post, we like pics! Check tiller or run both top and bottom limb bolt in then back off one full turn, two, three or four. Main thing is to back them off the same. Make sure the cock vane is up for that rest. You can also check to see if the arrow is making contact with the rest, with lip stick or spray foot powder.

All of the above in that exact order. You read my mind cricman. One other thing to check: Do you have fletching contact with your rest or cables? You can sprinkle foot powder on the fletchings, or your wifes lipstick (yes lipstick) on the tips of your fletchings and after a test shot, check for powder or lipstick on any areas of your rest or cable. If you do, you could have either arrow spine issues or a simple adjustment of the rest or nocking point. The sight should be the last thing you adjust after going over everything cricman and I said.
I would highly recommend (as I always do) paper tuning and walkback tuning as well.

I recommend reforging your riser, just kidding.....post pics of your anchor position, it could be as simple as your peep being mounted too high in the string

Maybe try drawing with both eyes shut to full draw, settle in your anchor like you are going to shoot, open eyes and see where your peep is you will notice right away if it is high or low. If it is in right spot I would then check your rest and nock point. Good Luck!!
