Carbon Express Arrow and string question

Right now I shoot Carbon Express Piledriver Hunter 350s and they have the 2" vein. The vein is what I would call a "synthetic feather" I dont know what the technical term for that is but thats what is on there. I need to buy some new arrows and all I can find is the same arrow with a 2" Plastic vein. If i buy them with the plastic vein SHOULD it affect my shot?

Also I noticed that the string where I nock my arrow is getting some wear and is lighter than the rest of my string. I always wax my string even where i nock. Is this a sign that I need to replace the string. I replaced them either right after or right before the '09-'10 season. I also had the cable replaced when I had the string replaced. Should I replace both?

    Arrows "should" fly better actually.

As far as the string. ONLY wax the string, NOT the serving.

I replace my string every 2 years. And yes, both string and cable replaced at the same time.
