Mathews Z7 Magnum vs. Bowtech Destroyer

Shot a Z7 Magnum this weekend and loved it. Was mentioning to a buddy that I was more than likely going to purchase a Magnum soon. He suggested I look at the Destroyer 350, too. I won't be able to make it to a shop to look at one till this weekend but I can't help but be curious and decided to post some questions for those that have shot both.

What are everyones opinions on the two bows? Which do you like better and why?

i have a destroyer, i shot the z7 when it first came out and didn't like it at all, one reason i like the destroyer is i have a short dl and able to shoot a descent speed arrow

Destroyer all the way. Very good draw cycle and you can get a 340 or 350. You need to find a place where you can shoot them side by side. I would also shoot the invasion. Great bow.

Z7 is way smoother draw and easier to do so. The destroyer has the hard cams and rough draw cycle

Good info! Appreciate it guys. Buddy of mine swears on the destroyer. He also gets a sizeable discount on them, too. I've only shot Mathews since I've been bowhunting so its hard for me to consider a change. I'm going to shoot the 350 before I make a decision tho. Anyone else have any info please chime in...

I think you might enjoy the 340 more than the the 350. Many shoot the 350 just to get more speed. Also that Mathews magnum is not shooting its IBO. I currently shoot a 340 and I think if you shot the new Mathews monster 2011 models you will like it better than both those other bows. I shot the 6 and 5 inch brace height models and they were really fast and smooth great draw cycle.

those two bows are night and day.

I shot the destroyer and didn't like it, I had just bought five bt's in a row so I'm not a fan boy. I'll shoot what I like at that moment.

the z7's are butter smooth but slower, the destroyers are faster and have a more aggressive draw cycle.

hand shock, feel and such are about equal they are both great bows.

Shoot the Invasion, I have shot the many Z7's as well as the Destroyer and the Invasion. My next bow will be the Invasion neither one compare to it in draw cycle and sound and the Invasion will be faster than the Mathews but a little solwer than the Destroyer but super forgiving.

What is the Magnums IBO @ 70lb in your opinion? I've read that it is up to 340fps.

I shoot a D350 and like it, as well as shoot it well. It's not been my favorite bow, but I do shoot it as well if not better than any others in the past. I shot a Z7 last week and can honestly say I laughed a little when I shot it. Draw was (to me) as sloppy as a rubber band, back wall was spongy, and the grip had to be in the top 3 worst grips I have ever held..........but I the D350 aint for everyone either. After 2 weeks of shooting you wont even notice the stiffer draw cycle, it is stiff.......but it is a speed bow.

Your bow.....you will know which one you like the second you shoot them..no one elses opinion matters. Good luck on your quest

I shot d340 and z7 extreme. Leaning toward the z7 until I shot the invasion. The invasion is not as loud as the z7. Not quite as smooth but a lot faster. I now own the invasion. Trust me shoot the invasion. Just bring your check book lol

I'm not payin for your bow so my opinion means squat. But I shot the z7, the destroyer 340, the Maxxis 31, and an Alphamax all together last year before I bought my new bow and the z7 was my least favorite of those 4...

I sold my switchback and bought a D350 mainly because it was a faster bow than the Z7. I shot it all last year and never felt real comfortable with it. I didn't miss animals, but I wasn't near as consistent with it and the draw cycle got old for me. Its for sale now as I just bought the Z7 extreme. Instantly shooting better groups and just feels right to me. Also love the short axle for tree stand angles, etc. Both are good bows, but I gladly gave up the speed I thought I wanted for the smooth, easy shooting, smaller Extreme.
