    Monkey Tails on My Z7...

What's the consensus on monkey tails on a bowstring? Mine break fairly often and I'm not sure how much benefit they really provide.

They make it really quiet , but you will lose about 3-5 fps!

The monkey tails work so-so, but I far prefer other dampeners.

Cat whiskers are still a valid dampener, and they really never fail (it takes them years to dry rot and get brittle). Besides that, they're ridiculously affordable, and even available in colors now.

X2 my monkey tails were off in a few months, just fell apart.

I use the KOOSH style cat whiskers and they look really cool!

I prefer other types . . . problem is the bottom one on the string I don't like the amount of room you have to put a string suppressor.

I took mine off of the string. The sting stop and the suppressors at the idler and cam dampen the noise sufficiently. Plus, they rob your bow of a few feet per second. I don't think you need them at all. Not to mention, they are expensive compared to how long they actually last

Use the "Skirt" from a spinning lure. You can get it in any color and the work great, just like cat whiskers.

mine broke off really quickly, I was disappointed. Didn't notice a difference without them, but I also had BowJax on the limbs too. So that could have made a difference.

I've only lost one and when I noticed, my bow vibrated in the key of G...thinkin' it was the loss of ONE mt...took the bow to my dealer/shop and he then noticed my bow was out of tune (cam sight window and string alignment) to which he said was why it was ringing like it was...he tuned it back and I told him to put the mt back on and as a matter of fact, I ADDED another one (the 2011's only came with 3, as the '10s came with 4-I"ve got a '11 Z7)anyway, I dont think losing 3-5-8fps is gonna make a difference, it's still gonna die when the arrow passes through...
