Using a 20 yard pin for 30 and 40 yards?

Hey the weather is crap and I want to be able to somewhat get my pins sighted in at an indoor range. If my 20 yard pin is deadon, how can I adjust my 30 and 40 yard pins so they are somewhat close. I know that every bow will shoot differently, but in general should my 30 yard pin be about 2 inches high at 20 yards and my 40 yard pin around 4 inches? Is there a general rule of thumb. I obviously will fine tune outdoors when the weather is better.

Plug in the numbers from your set up into this program, and ti will make you a sight tape. Then you can set your pins according to the spacing on the tape. It wont be perfect, but it will be very close.

i WAS TOLD IF YOU SIGHT IN AT 3,5,AND 7 YRDS. You'll be really close at 20,30, and 40 with the same pins!Dont know if true or not but worth a shot!

OOPS I read that post wrong!This is the proper way to sight in Use your 20 yrd pin at 7 yrds. Your 30 at 5 and your 40 at 3 and should get you darn close again I havent tried just read it on another post!

Makes sense. It's like you can BZO an M16 at 21 yards. Since your bow shoots in a parabolic arch, when it hits dead on at any given range, it will have that same elevation somewhere on the close range. I've done it with rifles for years but never thought of doing it with a bow.

I assumed the bow was shooting 275 fps. I get with a zero at 20 yds, sight the bow 2 inches high at 30 yds and 5 inches at 40 yds.

In reality with this setting at 30 yds will be close but i suspect 40 yds will need to be slightly over 5 inches.

If the velocity is significantly different then the numbers change
