Jerry at RBO finally recieved my 65# - 28'' SX-1. He ordered a Sword sight and install an Apache rest for me as well. I had planned on making the trip up to see him and let him adjust the bow to fit me, but with work, knee surgery and other stuff...it wasnt gonna happen. After several conversations on the pnone, pm and email...Jerry put everything together....got her tuned up and shooting bullet holes with both 340's and 400's.....boxed her up and handed her off to the FedEx man. She arrived in Alvin a couple days later.
I've always shot off the string, but Jerry convinced me to try a loop. I quickly went over the bow, checking everything...recorded ata, tiller, brace and cam rotation measurements for future reference if needed.
I hung my bag target up, set up my paper frame and shot some 400's at 3 ft, 10 ft, 20ft, 10 yrds, 20 yds and 30 yrds.....Every single one was a bullet hole
Now I have not shot any bow for about 3 months, so my first thoughts:
The bow has a mildly agressive draw...it builds quickly...and then an even pull all the way back to the valley(which I like)...which drops off smoothly into a good valley....better than my Vanquish........and then it hit a Brick Solid back wall....I'm not talking firm, good or any other term....I'm talking ROCK SOLID back wall.
I had bought a new Apache stabilizer....so I wanted to shoot the bow without it first. This bow is very quiet...all you hear is a thud and the arra smackin' the target. Very little hand shock / jump and the bow slightly tilts back toward you after the shot.
I then installed the 8'' Apache stab on it...it eliminated all the vibe at the shot, and the bow stands completly still after the shot. the stabilizer has a 3'' extention that I may replace with a small 1"-1 1/2"chubby because it is very tight getting in my case as it is.
This bow is a keeper for sure....I'm still trying to get use to the string loop and if the wind will ever stop blowin'...I'll get my site tweaked and peep completly tied in. I shot this 4 arra group at 35 yrds.....l the bottom arra is before adjusting my peep.....so YES, I am very happy with my choice.
If you get a chance, shoot the new SX-1....you will have found your next bow.....and if you can have RBO set it up, you will fall in love with it from the very first shot.
Thanks Jerry.....you got yourself a loyal customer from now on!....maybe you could move a little closer to Alvin in the future
