Twisted sister with a twisted string

K guys n' gals - it seems I have a twisted string. My peep and d-loop are out of whack. I searched on here and it seems that I should put my bow back into factory spec, then remove and reset the peep, right?

Well, I have no earthly idea where to start and could not find anything specific in my trusty nuts and bolts guide. Is this something I can just take to a pro shop to get fixed while I wait? If so, I'll probably goto Viking on Thursday.

Whatever and wherever I get this done, I would like to watch and learn. So... shop job?

    Thanks!

Yes any pro shop should be able to installe a new loop and reset ur peep while you wait. It's actually pretty easy to do. Check out YouTube.

Ok - good idea. So, a twisted string doesn't need to be reset - just the loop and peep? I might be able to do that myself...

You might have some creep I'n your string that caused rotation.

How old is the string ? How many shots on it?

I bought the bow at Christmas, and have probably got at least fifteen hundred shots in it.

Thinking about it, even though I've been waxing the string thoroughly, it is showing signs of wear. I had a moment of "what if my string snapped" at the weekend. I probably should have the shop look at it.

edit to add - upon closer inspection, it does not appear worn. There was a loose thread where the peep is tied in - but that's not what's affecting it's angle.

Spin your d loop before your shot till its right after a couple hundred shots it will settle in and you wont have to twist the loop anymore.
I shoot a single cam bow and always have these issues with new strings just part of the settling process.

Hmm - okay, thanks. I'll have to do that in conjunction with trying to realign the peep with maybe a twist of the string. Just read a good thread about that. I'll still take it into the shop for a good look over.

You shouldn't have to reinstall your peep and cut off and reinstall a D loop. Just have a shop put it in a press and put 1 twist, 1/2 a twist or whatever it need to not rotate in the string and put it back on the cam. Strings twist as they break in and it happends. Just put another twist in it.

Thank you, fine sir, for confirming what I was leaning toward.

All done. Viking Archery put a twist in my string and all is well in Speedmaster land.
