I'm trying to decide if I want the Easton Epics or the Easton FMJ's. I'm only going to be shooting hogs and white tail. I kind of like that the FMJs weigh more, so they should be quieter and penetrate better, but the Epics are cheaper. The other thing is just questions I have. The FMJ's are aluminum and carbon...can they bend like carbon arrows without staying bent like aluminum arrows? What about durability? Are the FMJ's durable or do they get dinged easy? I'm not really worried much about the cost. I want a solid durable arrow.

Been reading a lot of negative reviews about FMJ durability. I can't afford to be replacing arrows all the time. Probably going to go just carbon. The Epic and the Axis N-Fused are exactly the same GPI and everything except the Axis has X nock, Epic has H nock, and the Axis has HIT insert and Epic has HP4. Is the HIT insert worth the extra $20?

I shoot epics and excels. Have only broke one excel. Missed a squirrel and went through my privacy fence. Can't tell a difference between the two. They group together. I shoot a mach x at 71lbs.Last edited by rcjunky007; 03-10-2011, 05:27 PM.

From my research, I can't afford to be shooting FMJ's. I can't buy a few dozen every year and only have a few left over at the end of the year. Even if it is a great hunting arrow. Anybody use one arrow for hunting and a cheaper arrow for practice? I could go this route. Otherwise I'll probably go between the epic and axis nfused.
Right now I'm using Redhead Carbon Fury's, and they suck. I only have a few left out of the dozen I bought. They crack at the nock real easy...just from shooting them a lot...not into each other.
