I wanted to try the Carbon Express F-15 Dual-Blade Fixed Broadhead, but I want one that I can get the practice broadheads for. Might still the the F-15's for hogs, and use the g5's for deer.
I was thinking that the g5's looked pretty good. And I like them because they have the exact same thing in a practice head. But I like the f-15's too, cuz they look like they would rip a whole in something.
my question is, how much different do different broadhead fly? even tho they are the same weight.
I guess it is like everything else, everybody has their own opinions, one of those things that i will just have to try and see how i like them. Thanks for the opinions.
I shoot Montec and Montec CS primarily. Great heads and the CS is sharper out of box and holds an edge better. I will continue shooting the SS until they are no good and slowly I am converting to all CS
Have never used anything but the G5's. Fly straight, great penetration, almost always have a complete pass thru and then some. Drop animals fast, reusable, strong. Only negative is blood trail. I actuall shot a doe at 18 yards broadside pass through this season and found the arrow 30 yards past the impact stuck in a mesqite tree after it skipped off a bush off the ground. I couldn't believe the distance it traveled.
I did exactly what you are thinking of. I used the Montecs for 2 years and then switched to the F-15's this year. Well needless to say I am going back to my Montec. The F-15 did very little damage and left a very small blood trail on a good shot to the lungs and then another to the liver.
Do not try the F-15's you will be dissapointed. (to small of cutting diameter)
I use the G5 Montecs 100 gr. I shot a hog and a buck this year with them. Complete pass thru's on both animals. I also use G5 Tekans. They both shoot the same for me. They both shoot like field points.
my experience with the montecs lasted one season. they shoot great at a target and out of the box they have a pretty good edge on them but after one shot through a deer it dulled pretty bad. i"ve tried sharpening it on a stone and with other broadhead sharpeners and cannot for the life of me get it sharp again. started shooting slick tricks and never gone back
