Can 1" in DL make a difference?

I am 6'4'', have really long arms, and I probably should have done more research before I bought my first bow. The pro shop I went to after I bought my bow told me I bought the worst possible set up for being so tall. I am a L/H shooter because I am left eye dominant. I did not realize after I bought mine it would hard to find a good used LH bow that is adjustable to a 31" DL.

Right now I am set up with a 30 DL and a D loop.

My question to you more experienced TBH's, can 1" really make a huge difference?

      yes x 10000

but you ought to be able to get to a good combo with an adjustable release and d loop. One inch isn't something you can't work around.

I went to a 27" draw some years back and a longer d + release. Not sure why i tried it was significantly more accurate and decided to go with it.

a couple of years ago I went back to 28 so I'm thinking +/- an inch can be worked with various combo's

I would rather someone learn to shoot 1" short than 1" long. Everyone can shoot shorter better than longer. That said.... have a pro shop measure you, I sold my bow to a guy thats well over 6' and he is dead nuts 28" draw (same as me at 5'10"). MOST tall people are narrow in the shoulders, shoulder width makes as much difference in DL as arm length.

I was measured by three different places, and two said 31" and one said 30".

I bet 30 will be fine. I know 5-6 people of the HUNDREDS I know that shoot bows that shoot 31"........of those NONE are really a 31" draw.

That in no way means you are not a 31", you very well could be

I am 6'3" and shoot 29 inches with a D-loop and release. I do not have really long arms so this is what works for me.

I'm 6'4 and have a 31" DL and shoot a 30" with a 1" loop and a Carter 2 shot release on a 80# Mathews Monster and have no problems

Draw length is like the size of the shoe you wear and the release is the type of sock you wear, not everyone is set to A specific d.l. just because of their measured d.l. Particular bows measure different, releases can be set to different lengths......everything varies. What counts is that your not overdrawn and not tourqing your setup, as long as that's the case, ur ok

With an incorrect DL, you may never be able to acquire a consistant form.
A string loop will not change the draw length only the anchor point.
Post a pic with you at full draw, one frontal view and one from behind the bow looking towards the target, both pics from head to toe, and maybe you can get a better evaluation.

I'm around 6'4" or 6'5" and I shoot a bow with a 30" draw (advertised) even though it is more like 30.5" in reality. I shoot a D-loop and have no problems with getting a good anchor and consistency.

Thats a good point. MOST "bow companys" are long on advertised specks (AMO allows for 1/4")..and some companys are waaay off all they have to do is add a *

Bro I know your pain. Im also 6'4" and have very long arms. My draw length is 31 but I have my draw set at 29" with a !" D-loop and it works great for me. I feel if you are super long it 's a little harder to maintain a constant and repeatable draw. I think it works better in ground blinds and tight sets in trees too. good luck
