    Mathews Z7x poundage

    Will a Z7 50 to 60# bow set @ 63# shoot any different (speed) than a 60 to 70# bow set @ 63#?

I can't say for sure on the speed side, but I have always been told a bow shoots more efficiently and can be better tuned maxed out. Therefore I would say you would see a small speed gain through a chrono.

Probably not. I have had 70# bows at 62 out perform 60# bows at 63#. The only difference may be in sound. Neither should be noticable.

That's what I always heard. I was woundering why they call it 50 to 60# if you can actually max out the poundage more than 60#? My bow shop has a Z7 xtream 50 to 60# in stock that I'm looking at. Was thinking of ordering 55 to 65 pounds, as I shoot at 63#, or should I go with the 50 to 60#?

i'd bet zero speed difference but a much easier tuning job.

The bow will be more efficient when shooting at the max poundage of the limbs vs backed off poundage. Will it be enough to notice in the field, probably not.

Steve, I shoot 62 lbs and the Mathews dealer also told me that if I went with the Z7x to buy the 50-60lbs limbs and it would shoot 62lbs better than a 65 or 70.

buy what you like and what feels comfortable to you. you have to remeber the guys at the bow shop are salesmen first, they all work off commision. and if you leave it up to them they will sell you 1 thing 1 week and then the next try to tell you it's crap and try to sell you something diffrent. Unless you have a shop you have benn dealing with for awhile and they know you enough to not try a push off $$$ items on you.

X2 Later would you ever shoot at 50#? Probably come closer to backing it off to 58# or 60# if your shoot at 62# now. Just saying, a 55/65 would be more in your weight range than 50/60 with it maxed out at 63#. I don't think it makes that much difference with the newer bows.

We don't work on commissions and we won't sell you anything that we don't believe is the right product for you.Buy what you and the salesman believe is the best for you,not what someone else would want.
