    cold arrow screech

Ishoot a trophy ridge dropaway rest that has small pad that holds arrow beofre arm lifts arrow at full drawDoes anyone shoot one and have had arrow screech has they were drawing? It was 27 degrees last Sat. morning in S.Texas.I didn't shoot bow before morning hunt.In the afternoon,I didn't shoot a few. That afternoon I have a doe at 16yds.As I start my draw, the arrow make a screeching sound on pad before arm rest lifts arow into position.Does here that sound and run for the brush.I wet my arrow wth saliva same sound.I end my hunt and walk back to the truck.Sunday morning I shoot 3 arrows at a block,no screech. Is the sound from the pad that holds arrow or was it the limbs stiffening with the overnight temp. friday night/sat. morning?

The sound is likely coming from the arrow as it slides across the rest. I've had several drop-away rests make noise during the draw....I've even had a Whisker Biscuit do it. I put a small felt pad on my drop-away, only covering the area where the arrow slides over it......problem solved!

I have also had this sound as arrow slide across rest prongs. Used heat shrink on prongs and noise went away. I know some guys use moleskin.

I have same thing with my wb rest, or I thought it was rest. It starts as you start draw. So I listened to arrow on rest, no creeking sound, listen by cable slide and here creeking. May check that too.

I had the same problem with my Rip Cord ... even with mole skin. I solved my problem with a two stage approach: Assuming you have Carbon Arrows>

              1. I rubbed down my arrows, fletching to tip seat with DRY Brillow SOS pads that had soap on it. This makes them smooth as a baby's bottom.

PLEASE DISREGARD ... HIT THE WRONG BUTTON ...

I had the same problem with my Rip Cord rest ... even with mole skin on it. Cold mornings just don't help ... I used to use saliva too ... doesn't work too well.

I solved my problem with a three-stage approach: Assuming you have carbon arrows >

                1. I rubbed down my arrows with DRY Brillo SOS pads that have soap on them. Rub several times from fletching to tip seat until arrow is smooth. This makes them slick as a baby's behind. Don't touch the arrow until you lube it in the next step.

                2. Next, I took some arrow lube or crossbow rail lube and lubed the whole length of my arrow from fletching to tip seat.

                3. A day before I hunt, I put a generous amount (but don't overload it) of the arrow/rail lube on the mole skin and work it in.

                Presto .. no more noise.

Hope this helps .... Good luck on your hunting.

Or try some nail polish on the tip of the forks?
