Also a 10X42 fan. There are better for different situations, these are just a great all around "one pair does most" sized glass

        8x42 or 10x42

i prefer the 8's but have had 10's and been very happy with them.

I like 8x32's for hunting in timber and 10x42's for open country. Like txdukklr said the 8's will handle most situations but I prefer my 10x42's for antelope hunting.

i use nikon monarch atb 12x42. the patches that i hunt are 10 acres or more in size, so i like the extra magnification to tell me if i really want to try and call a buck over from the far fence.

and the shoulder straps for carry are well worth the money paid... i think the brand name ones are crooked horn or something like that

10x42 but more important than the power is the quality of the glass. Do a little research first so you know what the difference is, be an educated buyer.

Leupold switch power 7x32- switch to 12x32 or 10x42- switch to 17x42.

Quality of glass is the number on thing. Look at Vortex. I hunt with 10x42 Razers but I borrowed a pair of 8.5x50 Vortex Vipers and was impressed with them as well. If you go to the vortex website they have a great pdf that explains in details how binos work.
