    Hoyt upgrade/customization

I have a 2004 ultratec and lots of people say its the best hoyt ever made so I do not want to get rid of it. So I was thinking of trying to make it better. I was thinking about putting the new Spiral X cams on it since it has the older Cam 1/2. What are the advantages and disadvantages to doing this? The other up grade would be new string any brand Prefrences? And find a string stopper that would work on the bow, Do you know of one? Its the older 2004 without any lower holes so it would haft to be mounted in the stabilizer hole. Thanks

I have an '05 Ultratec. The only thing I have changed is the string and cables. I use Stone Mountain Dakota's on all my bows. I've hunted and shot 3-D with mine and would not give it up for the world. I truly believe it is the best bow Hoyt ever made.

I have the viper tec and FREAKING love it.
      I haven't changed a thing on mine.

No advise on your situation tho-
I honestly never knew or thought about changing cams to that extent.

I'm guessing you will gain around 10fps with the change to Sprial cams. However it may also change/effect your draw weight as well.

As for the string stop...the LimbSaver Decelerator will work. It attaches to the front, where your stabilzer screws in. I have one on my 2009 Hoyt Katera. I didn't care too much for the string stop that came with it.

I wouldn't do any of that, I'd make it a back up bow and possibly save a bit more and get a new one.

a string to me isn't an upgrade, its either servicable or in need of replacement. I realize that you can get better material, add a few fps, eliminate creep, make the back wall more solid but that changes what you love about the bow. Change it when it has to be changed.

Me personally I shot hoyts for a number of years and never ever liked the spiral cam vs. the regular cam.5.
