    what am i doing?

i got a new sight, hha ol-xl5519 and it seems 1 out of 4 arrows hits about 3" high and left. if i shoot with only one eye open i nail every shot. i know its a waste of time to figure out whats wrong and to just do things properly but i am watching my form, bow hand, anchor, release and im still throwing a few. my previous sight was a trophy ridge flatliner 5pin and i shot it with both eyes open.

If you shoot with a peep and shoot well with one eye open, but when you have both eyes open you have a flier, then you could possibly be left eye dominant and your left eye is taking over when you have both eyes open, thus you are not looking thur the peep with both eyes open. Do you know which of your eyes is dominant?

ive been using a peep for a decade and using both eyes open forever. it just seemed to happen suddenly when i changed sights. ive always thought my right(peep eye) eye was dominant. could be wrong or changing?

Mark your arrows and make sure that it is not the same arrow that is causing the flyer. If it is, get rid of it, if not, then check your form closely and check your eye dominance. doubt that it has changed, but check just to make sure. i was left ey dominant when i started shooting many moons ago, but since if have shot so long with my right eye, I really do not have a dominant eye much any more.

Bet you aren't lining up the scope ring the same every time. you might even need a bigger/smaller peep sight. and go back to shooting with both eyes open. why would you quit doing that just because you changed sights?

I had problems with lining up the scope the same when I switched to an hha. The sight housing is smaller than the trophy ridge it replaced.

i didnt switch when i switched sights i just tested one vs two eyes to make sure i was really lining up the peep and scope after the problem started.

i got the hha xl so its actually a tad larger than the flatliner. the sight ring on the hha line up in my peep perfect size wise, it may just be me not lining them up very well

I just got through shooting paper and still getting great bullet holes. Could the added weight of the new sight be causing me to shoot differently?

Sight ring color contrast? I've had issues with color contrasts with housing, and pin color vs target color.
Is your pin size the same?

The pin size change might have something to do with it. The smaller pin has more room to dance around on the target, and a small amount with the pin, might mean a fairly substantial difference on the target.

i switched from .029 to .019 and am getting a starburst effect. actually made the pin look larger than the .029.

Could you occasionally shooting off the edge of a starburst instead of center pin?

High arrows can also be due to sight picture. If you get high in the peep you will shoot high. If this is happening' the fix is to move the peep up slightly.

i figured it out! i was canting the bow left. i started really watching every step i was taking and if i let the bubble level run to the side the arrow was in left field.
