Replace factory vanes on aluminum arrows?

I shoot Easton 29" XX75 2413 aluminum arrows with factory installed plastic vanes that I buy from Academy for both cost and availability. I'm shooting them with my Mathews Drenalin LD, finger released, and off of a NAP centerest. The vanes don't seem to have any helical to them at all. Most all of the arrows I shoot fly true but every once in a while, I'll get an arrow that you can see the nock kick to the left. I believe it is from the vanes contacting my arrow rest but I'm not sure. The arrows are nocked the same way every time. My question is, should I replace the vanes and install either plastic vanes or feathers with helical.

    Thanks,

    Michael

Changing at this point could be a bad idea. You need to somehow mark the arrow you think is flying bad, and make sure it isnt bent just a little bit. Also make sure it isnt your release being different.

Yeah I'm definately not going to change anything right now for sure. Shooting instinctive is all about muscle memory and it could just be fatigue and plucking the string.

First thing I'd do, as bowhuntntxn said, is mark the arrow or arrows that give you the erratic flight. If they are the only ones that do so, take a real close look at the fletches and nock. If the fletching on them is rotated a bit from the good-flying shafts, remove the old nocks and put new ones on-being sure to align the string slot exactly as on the good flying arrows. If you can't narrow the problem down to one or two arrows, I'd say it is a form problem as you've said. Practice, practice, practice.

I would suggest a spin tester, you can get it pretty cheap and it will help you in your process of elimination....arrow, rest or form

Spray some foot powder on the fletchings then after you shoot them look to see if there is any foot powder on the rest or other contact points, this can also be done using lipstick on the vanes but this is messy.

Are the arrows numbered? And if so do the same one's fly screwy?
