    Sight adjustment- youth bow

    Youth bow...shooting ~200fps.

5 pin Trophy Ridge sight....I am only using 3 pins

In order for the top pin to be in the center of the ring(at 10yds), the head of the sight must be adjusted all the way down close to the arrow/arrow rest. Is this normal? Is it beause of the slow speed?

have you put a bow square on to check the nocking point?

The peep sight could be too high or low on the string, making the sight have to be in the super-low position on the riser. I'm sitting here at work trying to figure out if it's too high or too low and can't come to a conclusion w/o a bow in my hands, sorry. I think if the peep is too high (anchoring too low on the face/jaw) that would cause the sight to need to be too low.

I had a similar situation with my compound, only everything else was OK and I like to anchor my knuckle low low on my jaw bone. I was able to lower the mounting holes on my rise in the machined-out holes using a couple threaded fittings and plumbers epoxy to lower the sight bracket about an inch.

maybe the peep needs to be changed like bill says, draw your bow back with an arrow in it like you was gonna shoot it and close your eyes, set your anchor point count to 5 and open your eyes, is the peep in the correct spot, can you see through it?

It is my son's setup. I had him check the peep earlier today with the draw-close eyes method. It is in line with his eye.

slide the peep down a 1/4'' t a 1/2'' and see what happens.

Being that you said his peep checked out ok with drawing with his eyes closed and anchoring... Without a bow square, I see in the pics that you have tile on your floors. nock an arrow and lay the bow on the floor. Line up the string and arrow with the grout lines and it'll give you a ballpark if the nock could be (way) off or not.

Looks like it is square to me.

I think it is more just due to the slow speed. The arrow has more arch in it and requires aiming a little higher. I pulled out my old round wheel bow that shoots 204fps and the pins are pretty low on it too.

Where is your son's anchor point on his face? The peep appears to be pretty high. Have him anchor with his knuckle holding release in the corner of his mouth and repeat the closed eye test. I'll bet then he's looking an inch or more below the peep. If not then off to a archery shop.

If that is a Razors Edge, then I had the same problem with my son's. Went in and had the peep lowered and it helped a ton. Take him in and have them check the set up again. I think that will help.

Yes, it is a Razor Edge. Sounds like it is a peep issue. Headed to SantaFe Archery.

                              Good Luck.

                              Should be a simple fix.
