    Couple of fletching questions

    1) Are blazer vanes louder in flight than other similar type fletching?

    2) Anyone have trouble with wraps coming unstuck while using fletch-tite glue?

    3) How much overlap do your wraps make?

Decided to give blazers a try again and had Rocky at Lake Fork Archery fletch one of my arrows with some helical blazers. I had stripped the old fletching off of the arrow and put a new wrap on before going to the shop. Let it set 24+ hrs to make sure the glue was dried good.
Went out when I got home to fling a few arrows and was very impressed with the flight of the blazer broadhead combo. However the blazer arrow seemed noisy on the first shot. Retrieved my 4 arrows and shot again and same impression.
2nd time I was looking real close at the blazers and noticed the wrap was peeling back a little along the seam.
Trying to decide if the blazers, wrap coming loose or combo of both was making noisy flight
Also trying to figure out why the wrap was coming loose. I have only fletched with super glue (gorilla) when using wraps and have not had a problem with wraps or fletch turning loose
Not real sure what the wraps are made of (don't think it is oracal)
I peeled the old wrap off and wiped the shaft down with acetone before putting the new wrap on

I know Rocky is just going to say leave the wrap off
Don't have to have he wrap but they help me find my stray shots

The wraps on my arrows barely overlap maybel a mm or two. I havent seen them peeleing back. The only reason I can think of that this would happen is if all the solvent was not cleaned off the shaft before the wrap was applied.

Why don't you just leave the wrap off?

I don't think you said which wraps you're using. The only ones I've used are the ones from Cameron @ Custom Crest. They hold tight as can be and have minimal overlap. In fact, it takes a little work to remove them when refletching. I worry more about getting my vanes to stick tight but I'm sure Rocky takes good care of you with that.

I am using some cheap ones, just plain white and I think they were $11 for 5doz

It is very possible that I did not get a good clean surface for the wrap to stick to, buddy was on his way to Rocky's shop to have his bow looked at and Rocky had suggested the helical blazers on a previous trip. I picked up an arrow that was getting close to needing refletched and jerked the old wrap and fletching off, wiped it down with a little acetone and slapped another wrap on it.

I had been using gorilla glue and not had any problems, Rocky used fletch tite ( I have used it in the past but not on top of wraps) and i wondered if maybe whatever kind of vinyl the wraps are made out of is not compatible with the fletch tite

I can say one thing, I will be refletching with helical blazers when I do refletch. They made a big difference in where my broadhead hit in relation to the field points
