I go with school of thought that more blades the more damage. I love those things man they make a huge hole. My first deer I shot was a 200 lb 8 point and I could have stuck my fist through the hole it made it looked like i shot it witha slug. It looked like somebody dumped a red paint can on the blood trail.
here is my 2 cents, I bought the 2blade from academy for the sole reason that it comes with a practice head. so you get three 2-blade broadheads and one practice for you 40 bucks, where as with the 3-bladed bloodrunners you get no practice tip
I started using the two blade last year. 1st deer made it 6 steps, huge wound channel. 2nd deer the Buck in my pic made it 70 yds double lunged was spitting, snorting out blood all over. Easiest blood trail I ever tracked. And at night
As my username suggests I am a avid Rage enthusiast/user. As much as I talk them up I should be getting some type of kickback from the company. But I have talked to and seen pics of people who have shot the two and three blade Rage. I am not as sold on the three blade rage for a few reasons. First I dont think it gets the greatest penetration at some point all the blades that do the cutting has to cause it to slow down. Second, it does look like the three blades dont always open fully creating less carnage. I use the two blade Rage for a couple of reasons. First I like the simplicity of the design and the easy action of the blades on it. I have had pass throughs on multiple animals which created gaping holes. My girlfriend even shot a Rage at a hog that ran only 50 yds but it didnt pass though. The thing that I like about the Rages are the Head/Tip are so fat and that it almost creates a blunt force opening followed by the razors. CUZ once you shoot the Rage and see the bloody carnage you will never shoot anything else at a deer.
I've shot both and now use just the 2 blade. Two years ago I killed a 9 with a three blade that had one bend over and jam on entry. Two blades deployed and resuled in a dead deer in 30 yards.
